Throughout history, women have been builders of community, as educators, advocates, innovators, moms, and more, though their work often goes unseen in the written record. Stand with HER Story is our effort to change that narrative.
This community-wide initiative, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Lexington and the Lexington History Museum, invites you to share the stories of women who have made an impact in your life, your neighborhood, or across our city.
Nominations have closed for 2026, but look for more opportunities in the future. Each story will help us build a living legacy of Lexington’s women - a testament to the power of recognition and gratitude. A permanent, searchable digital archive will record these stories and be made available at the Lexington History Museum. Watch for future updates on this exciting project!
The inaugural class of Nominees were publicly acknowledged on International Women’s Day, Sunday, March 8, 2026. We gathered at the STAND Monument to recognize the stories of women who have made our community great. The celebration culminated in a public reading of all submitted names.
